Wednesday, 07 August 2013 13:19

After releasing a teaser earlier in the summer and a poster last week, Marvel have released a new UK trailer for Thor: The Dark World with some extra footage. The film picks up after the events of The Avengers and sees Thor pitted against Malakith (Christopher Eccleston), an enemy so powerful he's a threat to both Earth and the Nine Realms.

Red Band Trailer for Spike Lee's Oldboy

Wednesday, 10 July 2013 12:51

After releasing the poster earlier in the week, the first trailer for Spike Lee's Oldboy has hit the internet. The film is a remake of Park Chan-wook's 2003 Korean film of the same name which has become a cult classic, putting this remake under extreme scrutiny right away. Anyone familiar with the original will be intrigued to see what Lee, a very different filmmaker to Park, can do with the material and those who have never seen it are in for one of cinema's best mysteries.

New Trailer for The To Do List

Tuesday, 04 June 2013 21:19

Aubrey Plaza has won a lot of fans after impressing in small roles in the likes of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Funny People, as well as her turn as April Ludgate in TV's Parks & Recreation. Last year saw her first lead performance in excellent indie dramedy Safety Not Guaranteed and now she's back with The To Do List, written and directed by Bill Hader's wife Maggie Carey.

August: Osage County Trailer

Monday, 27 May 2013 13:42

Back in March we tipped August: Osage County as a potential Oscar contender next year and with the arrival of the trailer, that assessment still seems pretty accurate. Based on a play by Tracy Letts (Bug, Killer Joe) who also adapts it for the screen, the film stars Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Juliette Lewis, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch and a host of other names as a dysfunctional family all brought back together by family crisis.

The Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis is a film we touted as a potential awards contender come the end of the year and now the first red band trailer has hit the internet and it looks like typical Coen material, with that mix of drama with offbeat humour. The film has a soundtrack produced by T Bone Burnett - the man behind Crazy Heart and TV's Nashville - and stars Oscar Isaac as the eponymous Llewyn Davis, a singer-songwriter trying to make it in the 1960's thriving New York folk scene.

Kristen Wiig is back on the big screen this year with Girl Most Likely, an indie dramedy from American Splendor directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. Debuting on the festival circuit last year with the title Imogene, Girl Most Likely was reasonably well received with Wiig's performance getting some good write-ups.

Despite debuting all the way back in 2011 at the Toronto Film Festival, hired gun thriller Violet & Daisy is only just hitting theatres this summer in the US and who-knows-when in the UK. The long delay in release doesn't inspire much confidence but the trailer looks to be an intriguing mashup of multiple genres as teenage assasins Violet and Daisy (Saoirse Ronin & Alexis Bledel) find their latest job isn't quite what they expected. Reviews have been pretty mixed so far but check out the trailer for yourself and decide if Violet & Diasy is going to be worth checking out if/when it hits theatres over here...
