Kristen Wiig is back on the big screen this year with Girl Most Likely, an indie dramedy from American Splendor directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. Debuting on the festival circuit last year with the title Imogene, Girl Most Likely was reasonably well received with Wiig's performance getting some good write-ups.

Most people will be expecting another Bridesmaids and no doubt TV spots and the like will be quick to try and push it as that but there seems to be a darker edge here as playwright Imogene (Wiig) fakes a suicide attempt to try and win her ex back. The plan backfires and instead she has to live with her batty mother (Annette Bening) and her younger boyfriend (Matt Dillon).

The plot is predictable even from the trailer and some of the humour looks pretty broad - though that's of course what they would highlight in a trailer - but the cast looks strong and Wiig is on a role right now.

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you'll be checking out Girl Most Likely when it hits theatres this July.
